One kiss could be the last
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.
Raised among the Wardens--a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe--Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.
Then she meets Roth--a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to--especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.
But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne...it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Sabrina Olteanu a dat nota:

I can’t name one book written by Jennifer Armentrout that I don’t like. I began to think that it is really impossible not to love her writing style, and her creative ways. I think she is one of the most talented writers! This book right here made a laugh with all my heart, made me angry and it even made me cry a bit. It’s impossible not to feel everything that the characters are feeling. I was in the world Jennifer created from the first page. I couldn’t put the book down. It was 3 in the morning, I knew I have to wake up at 6 and leave to work, but I couldn’t stop reading. Her books are pure addiction. She gives us again an entirely new world, a world where demons of many kinds try to walk and acts like humans on earth. But humans have the Wardens to protect them, even if some people think otherwise. Layla is a girl who is half a Warden, and half demon, and she was raised by the Wardens. She was raised as one of them, to go out and tag demons because she is the only one the cannot sense coming. But, Layla only wants a normal life, even tries acting a like a normal teenager. She is in love with Zayne, the one boy who saw her growing her up, and played dolly with her when everyone else ignored her. Zayne is a Warden, the son of Abbot, ruler of the clan. He is in love with Layla, but the relationship it’s impossible between the two of them. Starting from the fact that they cannot even kiss because there is a chance she can take his soul while kissing. So, he tries to be there as much as he can, protecting her and listening to her complaining about school. But, there is another boy in the picture, Roth. The charming prince, the Upper Level daemon, who tries protecting Layla from other daemons because it seems she has and she is something important. So, he tries being there as much as he can, even saving her life once or twice with his special pet. The special pet that Layla is terrified off. “Don’t be scared of Bambi,” the demon said. “She’s only curious and maybe a little hungry.” The thing was named Bambi? I loved every scene between Layla and Zayne, but especially between her and Roth. This girl is determined to get what she wants, even if she is not as powerful as the boys. Roth even if he played the dark prince, he cared immensely about her. I loved, I adored the connection between this two. Unfortunately the ending left me in pieces, crying and amazed at how it could end that way. Talk about a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read the next installment. I highly recommend this book, or any other books written by Jennifer Armentrout. She is one amazing author!
