Notă biografică
Born Jewell Cope, Jr. to Jewell Cope, Sr. & Helen Marie (Smith) Cope in Goldsboro, N. C. on January 28th, 1944. His roots are in the South. His mother was from Mt. Olive, N. C. (Famous for their delicious pickles!!). His dad came off a tobacco farm in Southwest Kentucky during WWII; he was career military and revered to be pretty hard-nosed. J.E., as he was known, was the oldest of five; four boys and one girl. In their up brining, they moved a lot. From North Carolina to New Hampshire, to Tennessee, back to N. C., to Georgia, to Kentucky, to Puerto Rico, to Oklahoma. He went to high school and attended college in Oklahoma and played football from grade school thru college. He went on to coach football for eight years in Oklahoma and Texas. During his college years he did a brief stint in the Marine Corps but was discharged because of a nonservice related injury - football. After coaching, he went to work for Motorola C&E as a Company Communications Sales Rep, where he was fortunate enough to be selected as "Geographic Salesman of The Year" in 1977 out of sixteen hundred salesmen. While working for Motorola, he met Harold Hamm, noted oil pioneer in Oklahoma and that relationship led to a forty-plus year career in the Oil & Gas Industry. He worked for Harold and several Energy Industry operating and service companies. Those experiences allowed him to meet many wonderful and influential people and have many memorable experiences in 2020, J.E. lost his wife to a prolonged illness. He describes Linda as a wonderful, sweet, beautiful Christian lady that had a tremendous impact on him and all those she intersected. J.E. has two, "bonus" children from that marriage and three awesome children from a previous marriage. Collectively, he has seven magnificent grandchildren. He has been in recovery from alcoholism for thirty-eight years. He accounts his relationship with Christ and support of his wife, children and many in his life as being his motivation to write this book. He cites his relationship with Jesus Christ is the most important thing! He loves his Faith, Family, Football, Food & Fishin-not necessarily always in that order. He revels in a Blessed Life today! He believes that The Lord has called him to mentor and be of service to others who may be on some of the paths he has travelled; some of which, he may be on till he ends his earthly journey!
