1000 Years of Medicine in the Great Basin

Autor Anton P. Sohn
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 29 aug 2022
This 500-page book chronicles the history of medicine in the Great Basin from the beginning. Shoshone and Paiute Indians lived in the Great Basin for thousands of years and practiced medicine using herbs to treat aliments. More recently, they successfully treated the flu epidemic of 1918. Nineteenth Century American doctors came west in wagon trains to settle the west. Later, Chinese labor was brought across the Pacific Ocean for building the railroad. They brought medicine traditions with them. More recently, medical schools were founded in Reno and Las Vegas to continue development of medicine in Nevada.
