Notă biografică
Minister Alvin W. Johnson is an ordained minister in the Fellowship of International Churches and serves The Father's House in Norcross, Georgia, under the leadership of Bishop Garland Hunt, former president of Prison Fellowship, and his spiritual father, Bishop Wellington Boone. He is the founder of Lethal Weapon Prison Ministries. In his autobiography 1720 East Woodrow Street (APPTE Publishing, 2016) this gifted storyteller admits that he is the third generation of clergy, but before he realized the value of his family legacy he became involved with gangs in his neighborhood in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This lifestyle led him into drug addiction and prison. His book is the remarkable story of four sons of a godly pastor-bad preacher's kids-and their mentally ill mother and how God prevailed in their home because of a father's prayers. In 2004 Minister Johnson surrendered his life to Christ after a dramatic encounter and he joined a church that not only welcomed him but also gave him a vision for his God-given potential for an effective Christian ministry. God began to speak to Minister Johnson about ministering to those living in the places he had been delivered from-prison and the streets. He began ministering in adult prison systems, juvenile detention centers, county jails, group homes, and places with at-risk kids. He volunteered at alternative schools and mentored youth in the Gwinnett (Georgia) Public School system. As a child of a mentally ill mother, he also developed a heart for those with mental and emotional challenges. He has never fallen back to his former life and uses his experiences to reach people in prison and after they are released so that they, too, will have a new life in Christ. He resides in the Atlanta area with his wife Marya. He is the father of two sons, Alvin S. Johnson and Alonzo C. J. Johnson, who were murdered as victims of urban violence. Their deaths as well as his experiences in the streets have motivated him to start a spiritual revolution to change cities and restore people's lives. http: //lethalweaponministries.org/
