Death Is Not the End of the Story!
Although losing a loved one brings grief and sadness, for the follower of Christ there is abundant hope…because physical death is not the end of life. In this comforting booklet, Billy Joe Daugherty explains simply and clearly what the Bible says about death… and about life after death. Here is compelling consolation and encouragement for those who, as the prophet Isaiah put it, long to exchange the “spirit of heaviness” for the “garment of praise.”

Introduction
What happens when a person who has trusted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior departs from this earth? Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live” (John 11:25). The great news is that upon physical death, a born-again child of God enters immediately into the presence of the Lord, for absence from the body is presence with the Lord (see 2 Corinthians 5:6–8).
And what a place to be! Psalm 16:11 says that in God’s presence is “fullness of joy” and at His “right hand are pleasures forevermore.” If you recently lost someone you love, he is now alive in the presence of Jesus, completely whole and full of joy! As you consider your loss, take to heart what Jesus said:
Let not your heart be troubled; you believe
in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s
house are many mansions; if it were not
so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a
place for you. And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again and receive you to
Myself; that where I am, there you may be
also. (John 14:1–3)
The Lord is your Shepherd, so you don’t have to be afraid. He sticks with you even if you are walking through the valley of the shadow of death! You can shout with King David and the apostle Paul, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Psalm 27:1; Romans 8:31).
In this booklet, I will share some biblical truths regarding death to comfort and encourage you in your grief, sorrow, and sadness. These truths will give you cause to rejoice in the Lord and to thank Him for His grace, mercy, peace, and goodness.
Remember, your God causes “all things to work together for good” (Romans 8:28, NASB).
