It is essential to counteract the daily negativity which tears down self-esteem in children and young people. Children, young people, and adults are repeatedly bombarded with negative words and statements. These words and statements are most damaging to children between the ages of one and twelve years old. Although we all can benefit from the 52 lessons, it is essential that we counteract the criticism and negative statements made to and about children by affirming them and emphasizing their true value and worth. Spoken words affect one%u2019s feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and actions. Therefore, the goal of this book is to enhance the knowledge and feelings of self- worth, confidence, and self-esteem. Although the Opening Creed is repeated at the beginning of each lesson, the scriptures and affirmations are different each lesson. As a source of inspiration, a brief description of the contributions made by a confident, successful African American is also included in each lesson. The scriptures provide divine enlightenment, and are a guide for a life of excellence. The Lord made it clear in His word, Psalm 139:14, that we are wonderfully made. It is up to the participants to internalize and externalize that fact through their words, deeds, behavior, and attitude. This book may be effectively used in many ways, among which are: 1) as a weekly Sunday School lesson, and 2) as a part of the time allocated for family bonding, devotion, and discussion.
