CHRISTMASTIME

In this book, two of the younger children in the family; Vanessa and Jordan, learn that there is more to Christmas than getting gifts. A friendly visit from their grand uncle gives them a glimpse of what Christmas was like in the 'ole days' and how the families and communities celebrated. By the end of thestory Vanessa, and especially Jordan, are able to understand that Christmas is a special time to share, and fellowship with friends and family.

This story is one in a series of stories celebrating Caymanian Heritage. The stories are set in modern day Cayman (a contemporary setting) and revolve around the life of a Caymanian family. Each story includes a moral or lesson re- visited throughout the plot, and each plot focuses on a specific aspect of Caymanian Heritage and various native traditions. Young and old will enjoy these stories as they provide a bridge between the values, traditions and lives of Caymanians of yesteryears, with those of today's families. Dialect and references to other features of Caymanian culture are interspersed throughout the stories ensuring that there is an authentic Caymanian feel to the stories.



About the Author

Timali Ebanks, is a Caymanian interested in fostering an appreciation for Caymanian culture and heritage via literature. 'Christmastime' is her first Children's book in a heritage series written with the hopes of bringing the values and traditions of generations past into the lives of today's children and families. A former Secondary school teacher, she has a BA. in English Language and Literature, and a MEd. in Curriculum and Instruction. She is a wife and mother of three precious children, and when she is not typingaway at the computer she is busily managing the affairs of her household as a happily harried homemaker.
