Home is where the heart is, and the way we choose to decorate and lvie in our houses says a lot about who we are. From the formal but cluttered interiors of the Edwardians thorugh the relaxed modernity of the '50s to solar-heated eco-homes, domestic spaces have undergone a remarkable transformation over the last 100 years. Electricity and hot water became necessities rather than luxuries, changing tastes produced the en suite bathroom and the open-plan sitting room, and watching TV meal times as the focus for family togetherness. With fifty full-page photographs, drawn from the combined archives of the Museum of Domestic Design & Architecture and the Geffrye Museum, "A Century of the Home" plots the rich and varied journey from the way we lvie then to the way we live now.
