A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court

Autor Seymour Chwast
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 23 apr 2014
Seymour Chwast, an icon of the graphic design world, has delighted audiences with his adaptations ofThe Divine Comedy,The Canterbury Tales, andThe Odyssey, but it is in Mark Twain'sA Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Courtthat he has found his match. Inspired by Twain's comic irreverence for the Knights of the Round Table, Chwast's illustrations showcase his humor at its finest. He brings us a brilliant imagining of the beloved hero, Hank Morgan, as well as the full cast of Camelot characters, from Merlin to Lancelot to the king himself. With a bold and colorful design and no shortage of witty surprises, this is Mark Twain as you've never seen him before.

Recenzii

As a piece of design, this book is as charming and clever as nearly everything else Chwast touches. TheFlash Gordontrappings suit Homer well. In Chwast's hands, THE ODYSSEY resembles a comic strip etched across the top of a Greek temple.
THE ODYSSEY-particularly in Chwast's hands-is more of a rousing adventure tale, making this imaginative interpretation a genuinely fun read.
Chwast and Twain are a match made in heaven.
Seymour's take on this timeless classic is not only charming and clever, it is so cannily rendered that it makes Dante's complex masterwork easily understood for any reader. Divine.
With all due respect to Dante, this is Chwast'sDivine Comedy. [Chwast] makes theDivine Comedyirresistibly comic and inspirationally transcendent.
Famed artist and graphic designer Chwast has turned his talents to the graphic novel form for the first time, and we can all be happy about it.With his signature mix of humor, artistry, and high-level design, he conveys a breathtaking amount of information in clear black and white line drawings.Chwast does a stunning job of telling Dante's story in his own brilliant style.
Diabolically witty, devilishly expressive cartoon drawings.an accessible introduction toThe Divine Comedy- a sort of high-end, WHAM-POWCliff's Notes.. fiendishly entertaining.
