November in England may be a dark and disheartening month, but Georgia is full of hope. As a bride she is fulfilling the ambition of most Victorian daughters - to marry quickly, and to marry well. Her husband-to-be may be older than she is, but he seems kind and studious, and above all, can amply provide for her. Georgia knows that her life is about to change irrevocably, but nevertheless is shocked and disillusioned to discover the realities of marriage. The attentions of another man, and her own attempts to cope with the situation that she finds herself in, challenge the beliefs of the lonely young wife, and threaten to lead her into disaster. Author's note - in contrast to my previous novels, A Gentle Remedy is more romantic than erotic. There is passion, and there is sex of course, much to the heroine's dismay - I now always think of her as 'Poor Georgia'.
