Rededicating his life to God, Lance loves his wife and children, yet struggles with the pull of freedom from his long-term marriage and the call of the open road. Often left to fend for themselves in the mountain wilderness of Idaho, Nonie struggles to understand Lance's persistent motivation to leave. Becoming friends with a community of hippies, Lance is especially drawn to their lifestyle. Living a double-standard, the hippies are the respected establishment by day but counter-culture in their off-hours. The whispers amongst the hippies are 'who is doing what with whom', not what Nonie is looking for. Attacked while hiking in the canyon, God intervenes to spare 5 year old Peter's life. Receiving a word of knowledge at a Christian retreat, Nonie is forced to face a dark secret that God wants dealt with. Busted by the Holy Ghost, Lance is forced to face the repercussions of his actions. Seeking the mind of Christ, Nonie fasts for their family's survival, wondering if continuing their 15-year marriage is in her and the children's best interest.
