A Hunter Called Night

Autor Tim Waggoner
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 8 mai 2023
A sinister being called Night and her panther-like Harriers stalk their quarry, a man known only as Arron. Arron seeks refuge within an office building, a place Night cannot go, for it’s part of the civilized world, and she’s a creature of the Wild. To flush Arron out, she creates Blight, a reality-warping field that slowly transforms the building and its occupants in horrible and deadly ways. But unknown to Night, while she waits for the Blight to do its work, a group of survivors from a previous attempt to capture Arron are coming for her. The hunter is now the hunted.

Descriere

Ten years ago, a mysterious being called Night and her panther-like Harriers pursued a man known only as Arron into a small town. Night, as a creature of the Wild, cannot enter a place of civilization, and she could follow Aaron no further. She was forced to stop at the town limit and used her abilities to create a reality-warping plague called a Blight that slowly moved into the city, transforming everything and everyone in it in terrible ways. Arron ultimately escaped, but most of the town’s residents died from the Blight’s effects. Those few who survived were changed horribly by the experience.

Now, Night has found her quarry again, only this time Arron flees into an office building, another civilized place where Night cannot go. As before, Night – standing at the edge of the building’s parking lot – creates a Blight that moves toward and into the office building, creating havoc inside. But this time, the hunter is being hunted herself. The survivors of previous attempt to capture Arron banded together and have been searching for her these last ten years.

They want revenge for what Night did to their families and friends, and also for the twisted, inhuman things she turned them into. The survivors have spent the last decade learning various mystic disciplines, and they have an array of weapons at their disposal to use against her. Inside the office building, Arron seeks out allies who might help him against Night, but as the Blight slowly changes the building into a bizarre hellscape and its occupants into distorted, violent creatures, he’s forced to fight for his survival, just as outside, Night fights for hers.
In the end, who will turn out to be the true hunter and who will be the prey? And what will happen to those humans who survive – if any?
