When Martha's father dies, she is heartbroken. When the stock market crashes and the inheritance she expects to live on is gone. Martha has to change her life. She sets out to find a job and a place to live, never realizing how difficult it is to live on a budget. Love was the last thing on her mind until she meets the young Pastor Thomas. Martha's life is complicated when her childhood friend, Theodore (Teddy) Hamilton decides they should marry. She knows they would never be happy together and turns Teddy down. What she doesn't expect is the lengths he will go to in order to change her mind.
