A successful middle-aged lawyer, Larry Santers is enjoying the single life while on a sailing trip to Ramsgate. There, he meets two local girls, Jenny and Lindsay, who turn his world upside down.

Months later, he learns that the women had actually switched names to make them harder to track down-meaning that while Larry" thought" he was in love with Jenny, he's "actually" in love with Lindsay...who is about to marry her father's business partner

Enlisting the help of Lindsay's well-meaning but woolly-minded brother, Larry manages to ingratiate himself into the family at Whinckley Hall.

But this small victory proves to be just the beginning as Larry gets to know, and care about, the colorful cast of characters that populate the intimidating mansion.

As the impending wedding draws near, the love-struck Larry is running out of time-as his bumbling attempts at thwarting a wedding while simultaneously wooing the bride-to-be creates a situation so absurd, it will leave readers howling with laughter
