Notă biografică
Stefon N. Lowman is an American poet born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Jamaica Queens by West Indian parents. Both of his parents were born in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and grew up in Trinidad and Tobago. He is a first generation American and the youngest of seven children. Lowman began writing poetry at age 16 when challenged by his African American history teacher to write a ballad based on Mother to Son by Langston Hughes. This sparked a passion for vivid poetic storytelling. Lowman attended Florida A&M University (FAMU) where he majored in Journalism/Public Relations and minored in Psychology, earning a BS and graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2002. While at FAMU he served as co-creator and editor of The Creative Mindz; a poetry and art section in the campus newspaper The FAMUAN. After returning to New York City and working in entertainment marketing for a number of years, he left NYC and relocated to North Carolina where he attended North Carolina Central University (NCCU). There he earned a dual Masters degree in Mental health Counseling and School Counseling. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2013.
