A Patient Reel

en Limba Engleză Paperback
Raised in a funeral home by her Uncle Louis, Cecelia Christopher is plagued by questions she believes have no answers. However, some of the answers do come by way of ethereal messengers and dreams. Is it the paranormal or just her subconscious working out the demons of her past? She struggles to find balance, connection and understanding in a world that only rarely makes sense to her. After the suicide of her father and death of her uncle, she floats to different places, men, and jobs, reluctant to drop anchor. When she serendipitously finds a note in an anonymous journal, Cecelia is compelled to leave Cleveland and rebuild her life yet again, this time in the small beach town of Clement, South Carolina. She begins to find her footing and a father-figure, Robby, who teaches her about life by way of fishing. Cecelia conjures a relationship with her mentor and muse, Ernest Hemingway, who intensifies her senses and guides her as she writes. As the remnants of her broken family continue to crumble under the weight of secrets, Cecelia clings to Hemingway and Robby. During a trip back to Cleveland to see her estranged mother, Cecelia learns that much of what she believed to be true about her childhood were lies. Her brother Donovan is insensitive to her sensitivities and believes his sister needs treatment to eradicate phantoms of her imagination but he neglects to consider that they may not be imaginary at all. Cecelia must once again reconfigure the puzzle pieces of her life. In order to find the balance she is desperate for, she must learn to trust herself and others and in doing so, must make difficult decisions that will have rippling effects.
