Following her marriage to Wilfrid Scawen Blunt in 1869, Lady Anne Blunt travelled extensively in Arabia and the Middle East buying Arabian horses from Bedouin tribesmen and the Egyptian Ali Pasha Sherif and later co-founding the Crabbet Arabian Stud.
