The Gospel of Thomas was founded in 1945 by two peasants in the valley of Upper Nile, Egypt. It had been put in a tall jar, sealed with bitumen, and hidden in the sand under the corner of a great boulder. It was found complete and readable even though it lay hidden for two millenniums. The author has compiled the gospel's 114 verses into a cohesive order making them easier to read and understand.
