Based on a true story, this book recounts the horrors experienced by innocent villagers in a small Italian hamlet high in the mountains during World War II. The village, unfortunately, was located on what became a very strategic position for the German army. The Nazis occupied the town, prepared to fight the advancing Allied forces and ordered the people to leave their town. Many were massacred for refusing to leave.
