Notă biografică
WILLIAM JENNINGS BRYAN (1860-1925), Democratic politician, populist, and orator, ran unsuccessfully three times for the US presidency (1896, 1900, and 1908). Known for defending the common man, he led the "Free Silver Movement" against the East Coast establishment, that favored the gold standard. Bryan was also Secretary of State (1913-1915) under President Woodrow Wilson. MARY BAIRD BRYAN (1861-1930) was an American writer and suffragette. She was also William Jennings Bryan's wife and played an important role preparing his speeches and articles.
