Martha O'Brien has already faced a tornado, a broken bike, and a brutal attack on the first leg of her life-changing journey.

To her many fans, she is an angelic warrior on a heroic forty-eight-state bicycle trip. But Leo Pospisle is sure there's some dark secret behind Martha's adventure, and he intends to write about her alleged affair with the much younger Jake Mason for the nation's top-selling tabloid.

Martha and Jake "do" have a very special relationship. And Martha "is" hiding a secret-the secret of her attempted suicide. However, she is no cougar. Martha loves her new husband, Bart, but wishes she could really trust him. But Bart isn't making it easy with the way he's acting toward Jill Turbine.

As Martha prepares to ride from Lincoln City, Oregon, to Albuquerque, New Mexico, she wonders about Bart. He seems to be the only team member who doesn't see through Jill's nasty, duplicitous personality-and that includes Jill's husband, Barry, and his brother, Greg.
