Twenty years after the new legislation on abortion in Germany, either an odd silence or a problematized perspective to is to be detected in scientific debates. The contributions to this volume look into the backgrounds and consequences. They analyze the scientific and public discourse in conflict between growing acceptance of reproductive self-determination on the one hand and persistent moralization tendencies on the other hand. This illuminates the intersection between the abortion issue and bioethical challenges in reproductive medicine from an ethical and legal perspective.
