Ad Nauseam II: Newsprint Nightmares from the 1990s and 2000s: Ad Nauseam
Autor Michael Gingolden Limba Engleză Hardback – 9 oct 2019
Ad Nauseam was a popular title when released in 2018 (it's full first print run was sold out on Amazon before it was released), and Ad Nauseam II was released in 4th quarter 2019 as a logical follow-up. The first volume purely covers the 1980s, and volume II relates to the 1990s and 2000s.
This is part of author Michael Gingold's trilogy of vintage newspaper film ads (Ad Nauseam + Ad Nauseam II + Ad Astra), and promotion for the trilogy will continue in 2020 and 2021.
Michael Gingold and 1984 Publishing will once again schedule personal appearances in 2021, in conjunction with trade and pop-culture oriented shows. Gingold also regularly hosts live retro horror screenings and Q&As in the New York area. The book series is always discussed during these presentations.
Ad Nauseam II works particular well in person, when readers are given the opportunity to flip through the book and relive *every* horror film released in theaters in the 1990s and 2000s (more than 500), coupled with original reviews and alternate trade artwork. Nostalgia for the 1990s is particularly popular now with Gen X and Millenials.
Popular continuing series are included, such as Friday the 13th, Halloween, and A Nightmare on Elm Street, but also new series that performed well in the 1990s and changed the horror landscape, including Scream, Saw, The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. But also box office flops, such as 1997's Texas Chainsaw: The Next Generation, starring future Oscar winners Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey.
Ad Nauseam II is the definitive (and often hilarious) look back at 1990s/2000s horror films, and will continue to sell well in '20 and '21. The book even converts from black-and-white ads to full-color ads, reflecting the trends at the time.
Since Ad Nauseam II was previously sold almost entirely on Amazon and via direct sales with 1984 Publishing, there is particular opportunity here for brick & mortar wholesale, library sales, and international exposure. All of these channels have not yet been formally introduced to the title (and series).
Sell sheets are available announcing the entire trilogy, making a bit easier to sell all three titles together.
