RITA J. SIMON is a sociologist and university professor in the School of Public Affairs and the Washington College of Law at the American University in Washington, D.C. She has recently authored The Crimes That Women Commit and the Punishments They Receive (1990) and Women's Movements in America (with Gloria Danziger, Praeger, 1991) and has co-edited with Howard Altstein, Intercountry Adoption: A Multinational Perspective (Praeger, 1991).HOWARD ALTSTEIN, a Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Maryland, is the co-editor of Intercountry Adoption: A Multinational Perspective. He has also collaborated with Rita Simon on their 20-year study of transracial adoption.
