"Nothing bad ever happens in Element." Sheriff Sam Gunne is seriously beginning to wonder how the locals define the "bad." The fire Chief has been murdered, the fire station burned down, several folks have been kidnapped, and now it seems that there may be a serial killer loose. Suzanne has waited a lot of years for the right man and the new sheriff fits the role rather nicely. Things are going well for the two of them when old secrets are dug up and a killer is exposed. If Sam can't catch the killer in time he stands to lose everything, including Suzanne.
