Along Sunken Roads

In "Along Sunken Roads," Guy Arneau, a young planter from Florida, incurs the wrath of a slave owner after being a part of a group of boys who kill a Yankee. His slave escapes with Guy's help, and they flee separately to join the armies. In Richmond, Guy is reacquainted with lovely Maureen, the woman he loves, but after her sister's wedding, she disappears.

Guy luckily earns an enlistment in General J. E. B. Stuart's cavalry, but his former college antagonist watches for opportunities to destroy him.
