Always Enough: A Global Food Memoir
Autor Annette Anthonyen Limba Engleză Hardback – 6 iun 2024
Always Enough: A Global Food Memoir is a storied cookbook, a love letter to the author's tables in America, Europe, and Africa. From Philadelphia to Paris, Morocco to the Ivory Coast, Bologna to Greece to London, Always Enough tracks the cultural insights the author absorbed by shopping, cooking, and eating across the world, and provides 175 recipes learned across those kitchens.
Always Enough's meals model adapting to one's environment and what ingredients are available; its recipes capture a broad swath of international cuisines while also promoting flavours and ingredients not emphasised in traditional Western cooking; its approach encourages sustainable and healthy eating, with health-conscious dishes for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.
Always Enough shares good food and good stories of how one cook's identity took shape by immersing herself in local cooking and culture around the world.

Recenzii
“Reminiscent of a community cookbook, Anthony’s debut offers memories and recipes of dishes she enjoyed during her travels on three continents. Anthony began writing this memoir to offer her two sons a glimpse into her life before she became their ‘maman.’ However, the work quickly evolved into an expression of the similarities and differences that exist across cultures. Anthony’s journey begins in the U.S., reflecting on her childhood in West Philadelphia and sharing family favorites, before setting off to Europe, where she came to appreciate that ‘simplicity often yields the best results.’ Next, Anthony found herself in Africa, where she explored the local markets, reflected on her heritage, and came to realize that when friends stop by, ‘There is always enough.’ Anthony’s journey ends in London, which she currently calls home. Throughout, Anthony shares her twist on local dishes, including couscous-stuffed chicken, beef Wellington, black-eyed pea fritters, ‘not quite chicken gumbo,’ and ‘kinda callaloo.’ Readers seeking traditional recipes may be disappointed, but those seeking adventure at the crossroads of cultures will certainly not."
