Ambush in the Alleghenies 2nd Edition

Autor William P. Robertson, David Rimer
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 19 sep 2021
"A mountain man's first duty ain't to no king," yelped Lightnin' Jack Hawkins. "It's to survive!" That was enough justification for his fellow scouts, Bearbite Bob Winslow and young Will Cutler, when they fled from the massacre of General Edward Braddock's redcoats near Fort Duquesne. Yes, survival was an everyday priority for these hardy men who trapped beaver and hunted for their meat in the primordial forests of the Alleghenies. Dangers lurked everywhere here in the form of ferocious cougars, scalp-stealing savages, and white water rivers of immense fury. The woodsmen's worst nemesis, though, was Bold Wolf, the vicious Ottawa chief who brutally murdered Cutler's father and wanted to kill all the English like one pigeon. If that failed, the ruthless villain was more than willing to torture his enemies in the gauntlet or burn them at the stake. It was only through Bold Wolf's demise that Cutler could achieve inner peace. But would the resourceful lad be brave enough to meet the challenge when his cruel foe ambushed him in the dense hemlocks of the Alleghenies?

Notă biografică

William P. Robertson was born and raised in the wilds of Pennsylvania and has been an avid woodsman since his youth. He first read of the exploits of the Eastern mountain men in the Ben Bowie comic books of the late 1950s. Soon, Bill was reading the biographies of all the Indians and pioneers he could borrow from Lincoln Elementary School in Bradford, PA. Some of his favorite tales were of Dan Morgan, Davy Crockett, and Black Hawk, the Sac chief. These stories along with Bill's own hunting and native brook trout fishing adventures served as the inspiration for AMBUSH IN THE ALLEGHENIES. The author now hopes to have more fun as a French and Indian War reenactor, portraying an English ranger. And, yes, Bill did own a coonskin cap when he was a boy.Currently retired, David Rimer taught speech and English for thirty-four years at Bradford Area High School in Bradford, PA. He received his BS degree from Clarion University, an MEd from Edinboro University, and further graduate credits from St. Bonaventure, Gannon University, and East Stroudsburg University. David and his wife, Marcia, live in Bradford, PA They have one daughter, Stephanie, who is a public school librarian. Mr. Rimer began collaborating with William P. Robertson in 1989 and co-wrote the Bucktail novel series about the famous Civil War sharpshooters, the First Pennsylvania Rifles.
