AMERICAN CHARITY, -AN AFRICAN WOMAN'S STORY OF COMING TO AMERICA Oakland, CA -In AMERICAN CHARITY, a new novel by I.C. Moore; Charity, a young Ghanaian woman receives an ominously worded letter from her husband Conrad who left Ghana to follow his dream to attend school in America. Set in the early 1990's Charity takes a bold risk and leaves the security of her family in West Africa to follow the tracks of her husband. Her urgent mission to find Conrad and bring him home safely leads her through a cross section of American characters: a New York shyster, Bank robbing Haitians, a homeless family, Chicago mobsters, a Baptist minister, a Muslim family caught up in the Oklahoma bombing, and a mysterious guardian angel looking out for both Charity and Conrad. "American Charity" tells the compelling story of someone new to America. We see through her eyes the underbelly of America and its people, as we follow her journey of discovery both emotionally and psychologically across America; and gain insights into what it means to be an American. I.C. Moore's eclectic tastes and world experiences have been focused on exploring the nature of Culture Shock in America over the past 20 years, in essays, videos and poetry. He published, "America - Culture Shock: A handbook for Cultural Survive in America" in 2006, which he uses as a Teacher of English as a Second Language to immigrants groups in the Bay Area.
