American Settlement Houses and Progressive Social Reform: An Encyclopedia of the American Settlement Movement

Autor Domenica M. Barbuto
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 6 iun 1999 – vârsta până la 17 ani
The American Settlement Movement was one of the most significant, broadly based reform efforts in the history of the United States, yet surprisingly few people are even aware of its existence. American Settlement Houses and Progressive Social Reform documents, for the first time, the history of the American Settlement Movement in an A to Z format. Included in the Encyclopedia's 230 entries are biographies of key individuals, descriptions of settlement houses and reform committees, synopses of influential writings and reports, and articles on major issues affecting the movement

Recenzii

[C]onvenient compilation in a single volume.
[A] useful resource for high school and college students. . . . With numerous cross reference and a useful index, the material is very accessible. Overall, the book provides much more information than a general encyclopedia. An excellent addition to all social history, women's studies, and social work collections.
[W]ell-researched. . . . Students researching women's studies, social work, or urban and social history would find this source invalubale as a starting point.
This unique volume belongs in reference collections of academic and larger public libraries.
