An old military science experiment goes horribly wrong in a small Nebraskan town, unleashing blood-thirsty creatures on its citizens. The town's only hope for survival is Spencer Rodgers, an amateur book writer, and mad scientist Simon Barkes; who knows a little too much of what's going on. With the help of other locals like gentle giant Lane, the owner of the hardware store where the surviving group manufactures homemade weaponry to defend themselves against the humanoid creatures and the beautiful former homecoming queen, Stacey Jennings, who should have left town many years ago to pursue her modeling career.
