The art of tattooing dates back at least 8,000 years so we don't know how primitive man did it. Mummies with tattooed skin as old as 6,000 years have been found throughout the world including Alaska, China, the Philippines, Russia, Egypt, and the Andes. Through the centuries the practice of tattooing spread throughout most cultures on the planet.
