An American Dream Comes True (a community college president's memoir) is about the creation of opportunities for improving lives. The challenges and successes at NorthWest Arkansas Community College in launching this institution of higher education is the substance of this publication. This work revolves around three worlds; the years of dedicated community effort to establish this two-year college; thousands of lives changed for the better through this college; and a career destiny of the author that led to his being the founding president. No adversity, no hardship, nothing, if opposed by the human will can hold captive permanently the human spirit. This college became a way out of disparagement for many individuals, a new opportunity for others, and fulfillment of life-long dreams for thousands of students in northwest Arkansas. This publication is the story of how these things came to be.
