An Anti-Nazi at Hitler's Table

Autor Dr Ferenc M. Kando-Melocco Editat de Dr Esther Kando Odescalchi
en Limba Engleză Paperback
This book reflects the turbulent years of the twentieth century from World War I to the 1980s through the life of a man who lived through them. Dr. Ferenc Kando Melocco, known in the family as "Apa," lived through World War I and Hungary's initial brush with communism; World War II, the rise and fall of Hitler and the brutal Russian occupation after the War; and the grueling years of the inhumane communist regime imposed by the Soviets on Hungary. Because of his high position in the Hungarian Government during the 30s and 40s, he knew heads of states, met Hitler and other Nazis and interacted with politicians of many parties; yet he dared to oppose both totalitarian regimes of the Nazis and the Communists. These memoirs also show a deeply God-loving person whose faith helped him overcome harrowing conditions and misery. He believed in God's help and in turn, he helped his fellow man. He rescued persecuted Jews and helped others in need. Apa lived for his convictions. He would rather carry coal on his back to support his family than to join the communist establishment. Through his stories, we also see a smart politician who always knew what to do, when to quit, when to talk and when to remain silent. We also see a courageous man who remained honest, dignified and compassionate throughout all the trials and tribulations he suffered."
