Public țintă
Engineers; quantity surveyors; and project managers engaged in the contractual administration of international projects which use the FIDIC forms of contract projectsNB:
- UK: the FIDIC forms of contract are designed for international use and are not for the use in the UK. However, a significant number of UK consultancy groups are engaged in the design and supervision of a large number of international projects. The New Civil Engineer (NEC) Consultants File 2011 identifies 130 UK based consultancy groups engaged in projects outside the UK, a significant portion of which are likely to be using the FIDIC forms of Contract. The size of these companies varies from those employing many thousands of technical staff to smaller companies employing tens of technical staff. Consequently a significant number of staff will be engaged on FIDIC based contracts at some stage of their careers.
- Overseas: the author has lengthy experience of working for and advising foreign companies on matters relating to FIDIC based issues. Frequently problems arise because of language (and hence interpretative) difficulties. These problems are often exacerbated by cultural differences. The need for simplified explanations and advice in simple, uncomplicated English provides a market place for this proposed book. The market place outside the UK is potentially much larger than within the UK and with appropriate marketing should be of interest to all those engaged in FIDIC based projects. Indeed the non–UK market may prove more significant.
