An English as an Additional Language (EAL) Programme: Learning Through Images for 7–14-Year-Olds
Autor Caroline Scotten Limba Engleză Paperback – oct 2019
You enjoy teaching and, like every other teacher, you want the best for every learner. Recently, you have found a steady stream of learners coming to your school with little or no English. You aren't really sure how to provide the best possible education for them, when they are struggling to understand the English in your already differentiated lessons.
You'd not only like some guidance on how to bridge the gap between these learners and their peers, but also some suitable resources for that initial induction - as well as some guidance on catering for a variety of language learners in the classroom
This book provides you with an induction-to-English, complete with integral assessment. It includes suggestions on how to include parents who are new-to-English and ideas on family learning. You'll find an EAL framework to provide structure to your provision across the school, as well as guidance on how to approach class teaching.
Developed from good practice in schools and informed by research, this induction-to-English is designed to move children into English quickly. It uses a visual, structured approach that works alongside immersion in the mainstream. You'll find:
a systematic approach to teaching an induction-to-English, including integral and baseline assessments and resources for every lesson
revised methodology and resources to provide a more streamlined approach to moving into English quickly
an EAL framework to support your school in addressing its whole school needs, as well as guidance on teaching new-to-English learners in the mainstream
a structured approach to including parents, with a framework for supporting new-to-English parents through English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and family learning.
