Weapon System is an engineering discipline aimed at planning and design of the weapons intended to solve operational problems arising in all the areas of the battlefield. Development and construction of advanced weapons depends on a variety of technological capabilities and on the system integration capabilities of its designers. In order for these systems to have improved performance, they should be compatible with the armed forces structure intended to employ them on the battlefield. The decision to develop a new weapon system is accompanied by many considerations, and among them of special importance is the cost of the system. The problems in initiating and developing an advanced weapon system concept and the technologies required for such enterprise are described in this book.
