Billington is a quiet little town to which a drifter comes to visit a Vietnam buddy. He starts a whirlwind romance with his buddy's sister, marries her, settles down and they have two sons. They are very happy until the younger son, Michael, dies of a drug overdose and the elder son, Johnny, facing a charge of murder of his best friend. Some things don't tie in for the Police Sargent, Bob White, and he checks further. The investigation keeps expanding and taking different twists, which brings him to other jurisdictions and finally to the Continent before bringing the case to a conclusion.
