Comentariile autorului
On a trip to Austin, I become intrigued by the scruffy teenagers hanging around a commercial strip called The Drag. There was one girl, who couldn't have been seventeen, who had tattooed her entire face. I couldn't stop thinking about her. I carried her image around in my head for fifteen years before the plot for ANONYMITY finally came to me. That girl made such an impression that took me all those years to come up with a story to do her justice.
I wanted to portray this culture in a realistic manner, so I interviewed people and prowled around in the areas where these kids hang out. I learned about street life first hand. I found the kids engaging, clever and funny, but they were also angry and lonely. They are a diverse and interesting bunch and I really connected with some of them. I've shared this book with a few of the kids and they loved it. One young man said ANONYMITY was, "Righteous." He's a harsh critic, so I place high value his positive review.
