Phillipe Rainbird spent his summers with his grandfather Goya in rural Mississippi, learning how to track, hunt, and live off the land. Phillipe embraced Goya's teachings, and, along with his Uncle Jack, he felt the warmth of family and the pride of a rich heritage. But Los Angeles, like most big cities, is ripe with criminal opportunities, and Phillipe's skill set is in demand. The plan is to do enough dirt to get paid and get out clean by enlisting in the Navy, but before that can happen Phillipe will have to pull off his greatest crime.
Helen Masters was raised in England by her mother's parents, and though Helen has very little contact with her father's side of the family, she feels a connection with her grandmother Rita, who is half Apache. Once Helen finishes medical school, she is offered a position with MI-6, and she accepts.
