Application of Cyclodextrin in Solubility Enhancement & Taste masking

Autor Bhavesh Akbari, Sangita Akbari
en Limba Engleză Paperback – mai 2012
The poor dissolution of the relatively insoluble drugs has for long been a problem in the formulation of oral dosage forms. This limits the aspects such as absorption and bioavailability. Similarly the obnoxious taste of unpalatable drug is also not accepted by paediatric and geriatric patients. This problem is more apparent when drinking water is not easily available to the patient taking medicine. Rosuvastatin is poorly water soluble HMG-CoA Reductase inhibitor and in this work Rosuvastatin Orodispersible tablets formulated by preparing inclusion complexation with cyclodextrin for solubility enhancement as well as taste masking of drug. Factorial Designs to optimise % Friability, Disintegration Time & % release at 15 min and validated by ANOVA test. This book therefore provides information for new approach of solubility enhancement of poorly water soluble drug as well as masking of unpalatable taste of drug. It should be especially useful to professional engaged in formulation research & development of pharmaceutical industry and researchers of pharmaceutical academics.
