She has worked as an applied anthropologist in a number of American Indian communities. She too now lives in Santa Fe, and is associated with the Wheelwright Museum. Ruth Landman is a Professor at American University, and began her acquaintance with Philleo Nash when she invited him to join the anthropology department there.
