Admission that one's teaching method maybe flawed due to preconditioned values may have been caused by a narrow concept of teaching over the last century is the first step towards developing effective teaching methods with the adult learner in mind. Learning for adults is a personal process that is based on their historical and social context. World events are changing more rapidly each year forcing many adults, which in previous generations would have not been influenced, into new experiences that cause them to seek an education to advance their careers, keep up with their children, or simply for self-development. This textbook will help guide instructors to view their students through a new lens focused on the adult learner desire to learn.
