Arbeitnehmermitwirkung in einer sich globalisierenden Arbeitswelt / Employee Involvement in a Globalising World

Manfred Weiss, University professor since 1974, and at the Law Faculty of the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt / Main since 1977, has dedicated most of his professional career to the study of labour law, especially the legal forms and conditions of employee involvement. The Liber Amicorum, dedicated to Manfred Weiss on the occasion of his 65th birthday, deals with issues of employee involvement in relation to legal, political and social developments arising from the globalisation of economies and labour systems. The relationship between employee involvement and globalisation reveals some ambiguities. The prospects of extending modern standards of employee involvement all over Europe and other parts of the world would appear to be offset by the pressure exerted on participatory approaches to industrial relations by globalising competition and cost-cutting.A total of 55 authors from different parts of the world and various scientific disciplines have contributed to this Liber Amicorum in honour of Manfred Weiss, describing and analysing recent developments in employee involvement and drawing conclusions from legal and empirical observations in this area of industrial relations. The result is an international review of current developments in research and legislation on employee involvement that will be of considerable value to professors, scholars and researchers in law and the social sciences.
