Articulatory Correlates of the Voicing Contrast: The Great European Emigration

Autor Susanne Fuchs
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 15 iul 2015
How is the voicing contrast in German realised with respect to its laryngeal and supralaryngeal articulation and their coordination? This book offers a comprehensive overview of the underlying articulatory mechanisms and their corresponding acoustics with a particular focus on differences in various word and stress positions. It provides the first data on glottal opening occurring in word final position, where the phonological rule of final devoicing should apply. The results are discussed in light of the phonetics-phonology-interface, the use of phonological terminology, the role of timing, inter-articulatory coordination and stress.
