One of these "newspapermen," and the only living founder is Jeanne Toomey, a law school dropout for financial reasons. At twenty-one years of age, she joined the staff of The Brooklyn Daily Eagle and was sent to cover police headquarters, alternating between Brooklyn and Manhattan.
