Notă biografică

Peggy Kincaid Harris, a native of Lenoir, North Carolina, grew up in the shadow of Grandfather Mountain. She has been at home in the great out-of-doors since early childhood. She graduated from Gamewell School in Caldwell County and attended Littlejohn United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for a number of years. A licensed insurance agent specializing in long-term care coverage, Harris is retired but still provides service to her clients. Along with her husband, Fred, she has traveled widely in the USA and numerous foreign countries. For many years she and Fred worked with The Nature Conservancy. Peggy was on the Speakers Bureau and together they served at fairs and festivals. Their favorite assignments were on TNC preserves in Virginia, Nebraska, Arizona and Montana. The most challenging work was on the Atolls of Palmyra, uninhabited islands in the Pacific where they helped start the process of eradicating the invasive rats. Peggy sponsors two children in Africa through Compassion International and has had two others who have graduated from the program. She is a member of National Parks Conservation Association, Nature Conservancy, and Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The support of God and great doctors through the rough journey of cancer and chemo filled Peggy with peace and healing. Several of Peggy's poems have been published in "Echo News" of Central Virginia. Peggy now lives in Fork Union, Virginia, with her husband, Fred, and Liz, the cat.
