Atopic Dermatitis and Eczematous Disorders

Editat de Donald Rudikoff, Steven Cohen, Noah Scheinfeld
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 12 dec 2019
It is estimated that around 15% of the population suffer from atopic dermatitis or eczematous disorders at some point in their lifetime, causing a significant percentage of visits to dermatologists, primary care physicians, and allergists. Despite much current research interest, the pathophysiology of these disorders and their optimum treatment remain uncertain.

In Atopic Dermatitis & Eczematous Disorders, the authors discuss all clinical aspects and treatment of atopic dermatitis and other eczema variants, including:
  • Seborrheic dermatitis
  • Nummular eczema
  • Stasis dermatitis
  • Exfoliative erythroderma
  • HIV-related dermatoses
  • Ichthyosis vulgaris
  • Hand dermatitis
  • Immunodeficiency disorders
The book also discusses complications such as secondary infection and ophthalmic disease, as well as legal aspects. It contains almost 300 high-quality color clinical images, making it an invaluable visual reference for dermatologists in practice and training, candidates for post-registration qualifications, primary care practitioners, medical students, and allergists.

Recenzii

"The book’s 45 contributors bring their perspectives from dermatology, allergy, and pediatrics to bear on the subject. The result is admirable. The dermatologist, the pediatrician, the allergist, and the generalist will find this work a useful guide. ... Kudos to Drs. Rudikoff, Cohen, and Scheinfeld for pulling together the considerable talent and experience of the contributors to this work. ... the book represents the high water mark of our current understanding of this complex and sometimes frustrating condition. If you provide care to individuals who are atopic, you will want this volume at your side."
—Robert J. Pariser, MD, Professor of Dermatology, Eastern Virginia Medical School, writing in SKINmed Journal, Vol. 13, Issue 2
"Overall, this is one of the most thorough references on atopic dermatitis for clinicians. There is a unique chapter on the legal aspects of atopic/eczematous dermatitis that I have not seen in other books -- it is quite eye opening. Weighted Numerical Score: 84 - 3 Stars"

Comprehensive in scope, this text explores the clinical, historical, histopathological, and etiological aspects of atopic dermatitis and other eczema variants. It discusses disorders such as exfoliative erythroderma, HIV-related dermatoses, ichthyosis vulgaris, hand dermatitis, and immunodeficiency disorders that occur in conjunction with or enter into the differential diagnosis of atopic dermatitis. Complications of atopic dermatitis, including secondary infection and ophthalmic disease as well as legal aspects are presented in detail.
