Knowledge is not the motivation for learning A COURSE IN MIRACLES. Peace is. Peace is the prerequisite for knowledge. Truth comes of itself. If you experience peace, it is because the truth has come to you, and you will recognize the outcome because you are truly at peace. This is the stage of real peace, for here is Heaven's state fully reflected. From here, the way to Heaven is open and easy. In fact, it is here. Who would "go" anywhere if his peace of mind were already complete? And who would seek to change tranquility for something more desirable? What could be more desirable than a tranquil mind? Your divided devotion has given you two voices--the Holy Spirit and the ego, and you must choose at which altar you wish to serve. The decision between them is made on the basis of which call is worth more to you: "What profits a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?" If you listen to the wrong voice, you have lost sight of your soul. You cannot lose it, but you CAN not know it. It is therefore lost to you until you choose right. A COURSE IN MIRACLES helps you learn to choose right. TEN STEPS IN ATTAINING PEACE OF MIND 1. Follow the voice of the Holy Spirit instead of the voice of the ego. 2. Respect each other as equally perfect, innocent, sinless, guiltless, and invulnerable souls. 3. Forgive others as you would have them forgive you. 4. Interpret attacks on you from others as calls for help. 5. Release your grievances. 6. Heal your separation from God by accepting the atonement through forgiveness of the world for everything you hold against it. 7. Pray in order to ask God's help to recognize His Gifts He gave you at your creation. 8. Meditate in order to hear the Word of God deep within your soul. 9. Correct your errors, for you have no sins to correct. 10. Accept happiness and joy as your function in life, assigned to you by God, himself; then go do what God assigned you to do; and as you become more at peace with life, you will be closing the door to hell and opening the gate to heaven.
