Part 2 of series, Auka LiKow, son of Walking Bird is a grown man and making his own place among his People. He has built his own hut, taken a woman who has given him a daughter. As a hunter for his People he provides well and by chance in his travels ends up in the village of the old one he is named after. Stay with this old one he finds out much of his mothers birth place and People. After leaving there he is placed in the position of tracking a lost woman and her child. A tragic end to this searching results. A time later he is introduced to defeat, something he is not familiar to. Limits on what he can or can't do are not part of his life until now. Accepting these limits, he then almost kills himself because he forgot a most basic lesson from childhood. With a second chance he sees that his priorities were not right but now attempts to get his life going down the right path.
